Worried About
Preserving
Your Sight?

Conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts can quietly steal your vision - but with the right monitoring and care, you can protect your eyes for a lifetime.

Macular Degeneration

Warning signs that warrant an immediate eye exam

Gradual loss of peripheral vision
Blurry or distorted central vision
New floaters or flashes of light
Halos around lights at night
Family history of glaucoma or AMD
Vision changes you can't explain

The most common threats
to long-term vision

01

Glaucoma

Often called "the silent thief of sight," glaucoma damages the optic nerve gradually with no pain or early symptoms. Regular pressure monitoring and optic nerve imaging are the only way to catch it before irreversible vision loss occurs.

02

Macular Degeneration

AMD affects the center of your vision and is the leading cause of blindness in adults over 50. Early detection through retinal imaging allows for lifestyle modifications and treatments that significantly slow progression.

03

Cataracts

The lens inside your eye gradually clouds with age, dimming and blurring your vision. We monitor cataract development and help you understand when the time is right for surgery and what to expect.

Advanced monitoring for
your most precious sense

1

Optic Nerve Imaging (OCT)

Optical Coherence Tomography gives us a microscopic, 3D view of your optic nerve and retinal layers - detecting changes years before they affect your vision or field of sight.

2

Visual Field Testing

We map your peripheral vision to detect early field loss - a hallmark of glaucoma - that you would never notice on your own until significant damage has occurred.

3

Retinal Imaging

Ultra-wide field retinal photography allows us to document and track the entire retina over time - catching subtle changes in the macula, blood vessels, and retinal periphery.

4

Coordinated Specialist Referral

When treatment beyond our scope is indicated - such as glaucoma surgery or anti-VEGF injections for AMD - we coordinate closely with the right specialist and remain your primary eye care partner.

Most vision loss is preventable

The tragic truth about conditions like glaucoma and macular degeneration is that by the time patients notice something is wrong, significant damage has already occurred. Proactive monitoring is the answer.

What patients ask us
about preserving sight

Having a first-degree relative with glaucoma increases your risk significantly. We typically recommend a comprehensive exam including optic nerve imaging and pressure measurement at least annually - and in some cases every 6 months - depending on your individual risk profile.
For some patients with intermediate AMD, or late AMD in one eye, AREDS2 supplements may reduce the risk of progression. Your eye doctor can determine whether they are appropriate.
That's precisely the point. Glaucoma, early AMD, and other serious conditions cause no noticeable symptoms in their earliest - and most treatable - stages. Normal vision does not mean a healthy eye internally. Imaging lets us see what symptoms cannot tell you.
Cataract surgery is recommended when cataracts significantly impair your ability to perform daily activities - driving, reading, watching TV - and glasses can no longer adequately correct the blurriness. We'll monitor your cataracts over time and help you decide when the time is right.
